Our Approach to Author Services
The business of books is one that I enjoy immensely. I enjoy teaching authors, I enjoy interacting with colleagues, and I enjoy the actual work that goes into them. Every stage in making a book is special and improves the book.
Making books takes a lot of work. The first, and biggest, step is for the author to get their story on the page. After that, my work begins!
My highest priority when assisting authors on their publication journey is to make their book the best version of itself. This means helping them understand everything about the process and preserving their writing style and voice in the manuscript. Your book is still your book; editors shouldn’t change that.
Communication is key!

Hi! I’m Vicky and I love books with a fiery passion.
I am an editor, proofreader, and book designer. My passion is to help independent authors navigate small press or self publishing by helping them polish their content into a complete, high-quality book ready for print and ebook distribution while preserving the author’s style and voice. I love books and helping to produce good ones is a dream come true.
I am an avid reader and I enjoy all kinds of books, and have a hard time picking favorites! With the explosion of self-publishing and small publishing companies (which I love because they’re putting more content into the world), I have noticed in recent years a degradation of quality in some of these pieces. Works with stellar ideas are unreadable because of these types of simple errors; good books could be great but don’t quite make it. Most people just abandon promising storylines because of the lack of proofreading. That’s where I can help!
I graduated from the University of Houston in 2010, where I double-majored in History and Anthropology and had almost enough credits for an additional degree. I really enjoyed learning and kept changing my major because I couldn’t pick just one.
In addition to editorial training, I’m a member of the EFA (Editorial Freelancers Association) and ACES (The Society for Editing), as well as various memberships, subscriptions, and continuing education resources.
I am passionate about my business and I take it very seriously—but I also enjoy it immensely and love to love it.
Our Values
When working with someone on something as personal as a book that they wrote, it is important to choose someone whose values align with yours.
Diligence
I will never do something halfway, or less than my best. When I work with authors I put a lot of time and effort into what we’re doing, and I do it thoroughly and carefully, with full communication every step of the way.
Education
I won’t ever just change things or make decisions without discussing them with you first. If I suggest a change to your manuscript or cover, I will be happy to explain in depth the reasons why I made that choice. We can discuss it at length. “Know better, do better” is my personal motto and that extends to how I help educate authors.
Honesty
Open, honest communication is key to my relationship with my clients. I will be respectful and honest at all times, and I expect the same from my clients!
